FAQs
What is Dynatrace Platform Subscription?
Dynatrace Platform Subscription (DPS) is a licensing model where you make a minimum annual spend commitment at the platform level and then consume that commit based on actual usage and a straightforward rate card. Any platform capability can be used in any quantity at any time based on your evolving needs.
Do I get access to all platform capabilities in a Dynatrace Platform Subscription contract?
Yes, Dynatrace Platform Subscription gives you access to all platform capabilities that are generally available when you sign the order form.
Do I get a discount if I buy a larger Dynatrace Platform Subscription?
Yes, as you commit to more usage, your unit price decreases.
When does Dynatrace charge for overages?
Dynatrace never charges penalty-style overages. Instead, customers who consume more than their minimum annual spend commit can continue to use the platform on an on-demand basis, billed monthly at the same rates as pre-paid consumption. Customers can alternatively increase their commit spend to attain a higher discount.
How can I manage my consumption and control my costs?
You get complete transparency into your usage through a suite of tools in the Dynatrace Account Management Portal. In addition to raw data, the tools provide forecasting, alerting, and drilldowns that give real-time insights into your usage patterns.
What is a GiB hour?
A GiB hour is a unit of measure representing the cost to monitor, analyze, or protect a 1-GiB memory host for 1 hour. A host with 16 GiB of memory that is monitored for 3 hours will consume 48 GiB hours (16 GiB memory x 3 h = 48 GiB hours).
What is a host hour?
A host hour is a unit of measure representing the cost to monitor a host for one hour (regardless of the amount of host memory).
If these capabilities are used for a fraction of an hour, Dynatrace usage is rounded up to the nearest 15 minutes for consumption calculations (for example, 1 minute of usage is billed as 15 minutes).
How is monitoring consumption calculated when capabilities are used for less than an hour?
When Dynatrace capabilities are used for a fraction of an hour, we round up to the nearest 15 minutes for billing purposes (for example, one minute of usage is billed as 15 minutes; an hour and three minutes of usage is billed as 1.25 hours). This billing model is intended to be advantageous in cloud-native environments where hosts and services are rapidly spun up and destroyed.
Does Full-Stack Monitoring cost more if a server hosts many JVMs, microservices, or containers?
No, the pricing for Full-Stack Monitoring is based on the amount of memory monitored over the time period. We don’t vary Full-Stack Monitoring pricing based on the technologies running on the host.
Does Full-Stack Monitoring include all the features of Infrastructure Monitoring?
Yes, the price of Full-Stack Monitoring includes all Infrastructure Monitoring capabilities, for example, Network Performance Monitoring.
Does Full-Stack Monitoring include all the features of Kubernetes Platform Monitoring?
Yes, the price of Full-Stack Monitoring includes all Kubernetes Platform Monitoring capabilities, to gain insights into your Kubernetes clusters.
Can Application Security capabilities be deployed on a standalone basis?
Runtime Vulnerability Analytics requires that the host be monitored by Dynatrace (either in Full-Stack or Infrastructure Monitoring mode).
Runtime Application Protection is based on code-level insights and requires Runtime Vulnerability Analytics.
Are all rate card capabilities available across all deployment models and cloud service providers?
No, availability depends on deployment model and/or cloud service provider. Please contact your sales representative to understand the current availability.
