Cloud-native applications require observability and security that can scale, flex, and respond instantaneously. Dynatrace was built for this moment, and we’re excited to announce the Dynatrace Platform Subscription (DPS)—modern pricing with flexibility and transparency for cloud environments.
With DPS, you make an annual spend commitment at the platform level and immediately gain access to use any capability in any quantity at any time. Your teams benefit from full platform access, a simple contract, and no hidden fees. Plus, DPS is underpinned by a purpose-built Account Management Portal that offers granular transparency into usage trends so you’re always in the driver’s seat. This model is based on deep collaboration with hundreds of customers, all the best practices we could find, and a philosophy of transparency and fairness. We believe DPS represents the right way to partner with customers, and we hope you do, too!
Full platform access
Dynatrace is a unified analytics and automation platform—not a collection of standalone modules. With integrated visibility from your back-end infrastructure to your end users’ devices, Dynatrace can uniquely identify and prioritize issues before they impact your business. Modern applications require a solution that unifies end-to-end data to provide intelligence and precise answers, and this is why the Dynatrace Platform Subscription includes full access to all Dynatrace capabilities.
Of course, “all access” doesn’t mean that everything is turned on all the time. You have access to Dynatrace capabilities when and where you need them. It’s all about maximizing value. If there’s an urgent need for Application Security or Real User Monitoring, you can get started right away. And there are no monthly commitments or high-watermark plans to worry about as there are with some other vendors. With Dynatrace, you only pay for what you use.
Flexibility is great, but it only works when you have high-fidelity visibility into your usage. Our solution is the Account Management Portal. The portal is your single source of truth for consumption insights, forecasting, and alerting. It’s our goal to make sure you have easy access to the data you need to manage your budget and optimize your Dynatrace subscription.
Simple contract
At its core, DPS is a familiar subscription model. You make an annual spend commitment and we provide you with a rate card that lists usage pricing for each capability on the platform.
We’ve tailored DPS pricing for cloud-centric environments. Modern application instances don’t run all the time, so we’re introducing hourly pricing for Full-stack Monitoring and Application Security capabilities. This gives you the ability to auto-scale Dynatrace along with your apps. We’re also introducing simplified pricing for Infrastructure Monitoring on DPS—a flat hourly rate, regardless of host size.
Beyond the cloud, hourly pricing is also great for traditional and hybrid environments. DPS offers you flexibility to scale-up deployments during peak traffic events or to provide extra observability during high-stakes moments. It also makes it easier than ever to deploy Dynatrace in pre-production environments and use quality gates to automate your pipeline management based on KPIs.
No hidden fees
As someone who has purchased enterprise SaaS products in the past, there are few things I dislike more than ancillary fees and surprise charges. In designing DPS, we’ve created pricing that is transparent and fair. This is just how we do business at Dynatrace.
Naturally, customers that use more Dynatrace capabilities will pay more, but you’ll never be caught off-guard with tricky pricing or unexpected charges.
DPS customers pay the same price for committed and on-demand usage. And we don’t charge per-user fees because we believe Dynatrace is best used as a collaboration tool, and we want to promote broad access to Dynatrace insights. Lastly, your rate card is fully inclusive of all product-related charges—there’s no hidden pricing buried in the fine print.
Next steps
We hope the Dynatrace Platform Subscription is resonating, and we’d love to hear your feedback. Today, DPS is available for all Dynatrace SaaS environments, and we’re now working to bring DPS to our Dynatrace Managed customers.
