For a significant portion of Dynatrace customers, DataPower gateways provide mission-critical service/application integration, security, and control functionality. We recognize the power of these devices and are constantly at work to expand the breadth of our monitoring coverage to address our customer’s most pressing needs. The challenge with monitoring security-related technologies such as DataPower is their inhospitality to agent-based monitoring approaches. Building upon the foundational work of the ActiveGate plugin framework, Dynatrace is pleased to announce the availability of remote DataPower monitoring through the DataPower ActiveGate extension.
Prerequisites
- A DataPower appliance with the XML Management Interface enabled
- An Environment ActiveGate (version 1.155+) that has the ActiveGate plugin module installed and isn’t used for synthetic or mainframe monitoring
- 1 environment ActiveGate can typically support 30-50 DataPower devices
What’s included
Every 60 seconds, using the DataPower extension, Dynatrace remotely ingests all of the most crucial data from your DataPower devices. But data, without context and insights, is just noise. Data from the DataPower extension is continuously ingested, analyzed, and utilized by the Dynatrace platform in order to enable you to answer one of the most critical questions related to your environment—how are my DataPower instances performing? DataPower monitoring with Dynatrace helps you separate the signal from the noise.
From service availability to network throughput and CPU load, data from your DataPower instances give the Dynatrace platform real-time insight into the health and performance of your devices and enable us to provide you with automatically generated visualization tools, dashboards, infographics and reports. When you enable DataPower monitoring within Dynatrace, we help you better understand the relationships and inter-dependencies that your DataPower devices have across your highly complex enterprise.
Finally, just like the out-of-the-box functionality, the extension is easy to deploy and is developed, maintained, and fully supported by Dynatrace. Simply put, it provides DataPower monitoring using the best-in-class functionality that you have come to expect from Dynatrace.
Coming soon
DataPower monitoring with Dynatrace is getting better. With upcoming updates to Davis® (our AI engine), data from our ActiveGate extension will also be incorporated into our root-cause analysis. This means we will soon be able to deliver insights that go beyond device performance and provide answers to the other critical question—which customer/service-impacting problems are attributable to your DataPower instances?
