What the SEC cybersecurity disclosure mandate means for application security

On July 26, 2023, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) adopted rules that require all public organizations to disclose any material cybersecurity incidents that they experience. The mandate also requires that organizations disclose overall cybersecurity risk management, strategy, and governance.

The SEC cybersecurity mandate will go into effect on December 15, 2023, and cybersecurity organizations are still figuring out how to properly prepare themselves.
