Sardegna IT is an in-house company of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia founded in 2006, specializing in the fields of information and communication technology and digitization. Their purpose is to support digitization and innovation in the region. These activities include the development and management of technological infrastructure, plus the deployment of ICT solutions and services aimed at improving the efficiency of internal processes in the Regional Administration, Regional Bodies, and the Regional Health Service, as well as the enablement of high-value online services for citizens consistent with the NextGenerationEU project.
The company has about 120 employees divided over two organizational units, one for projects in the health field and another focused on all other Regional Public Administration departments. Sardegna IT’s clients are these various departments for which they design, deploy, and manage delivered services to the citizens and businesses of the Region on a daily basis. Among the main services managed by Sardegna IT is the Electronic Health Record, which has a key role in electronic services for doctors, health facilities, and citizens, and has more than 1,600,000 active records to date.
Managing an important part of the Region’s information systems, and especially health care, it is of vital importance to delivering efficient services to citizens. We need to be quick, predictive, and effective in nipping any issues in the bud before they impact users, We chose Dynatrace for its 360° monitoring of the entire stack, from the digital user experience to the infrastructure. We needed a solution that could track processes and calls in real-time and evaluate the user experience by highlighting unusual behavior.
Davis AI, the artificial intelligence engine on which Dynatrace’s platform is based, provides Sardegna IT with timely information on possible issues and their causes, reducing the IT team’s workload and helping to resolve problems before they impact users.
Furthermore, the adoption of Dynatrace has resolved a common dynamic of several different providers monitoring their own service area, resulting in a lack of full observability of the service, even though it’s connected and dependent in different components. With Dynatrace, Sardegna IT has improved collaboration with all of the stakeholders who contribute to service delivery, eliminating the classic “war room” typically triggered to resolve IT incidents. Another distinguishing feature of Dynatrace is its ability to monitor new technologies like microservices and the Kubernetes cluster, through which Sardegna IT delivers the Electronic Health Record.
