Meet our team

Rick McConnell

Chief Executive Officer

Rick McConnell has been a successful technology executive for 30 years, establishing a reputation for scaling multibillion-dollar companies in competitive growth markets. Prior to joining Dynatrace in 2021, he was President at Akamai Technologies and General Manager of Akamai’s Security Technology Group, where he was responsible for growing the company’s security business from a few million dollars of revenue in 2011 to becoming a $1.3+ billion business. Prior to Akamai, Rick served in several senior executive positions at Cisco Systems and was part of the early leadership team that built Cisco’s multibillion-dollar Communications and Collaboration business. He joined Cisco in 2004 when the company acquired Latitude Communications, a provider of fully integrated voice and Web conferencing solutions, where he had served as President and CEO.

Rick holds an MBA and a B.A. in Quantitative Economics, both from Stanford University. A passionate runner, cyclist, and father of three, Rick lives in California with his wife.

Jim Benson

Chief Financial Officer

Jim is a senior executive with over 30 years of experience in market-leading technology companies. He has built and scaled global finance organizations, implemented major strategic programs, and improved business performance. At Dynatrace, Jim oversees all aspects of finance, including accounting, risk and compliance, tax, treasury, investor relations, corporate development, along with real estate and IT. Prior to joining Dynatrace, Jim served as executive vice president and CFO at Akamai Technologies, a global cloud services and cybersecurity leader.

Jim has an MBA from Clark University and a B.S. in Finance from Bentley College. Outside of work, Jim enjoys golfing and recharging with family and friends.

Matthias Dollentz-Scharer

​Chief Customer Officer

Matthias has a passion for creating unparalleled experiences for Dynatrace’s highly valuable customers, focusing on making them successful in achieving their business outcomes. Matthias is responsible for all aspects of the customer journey, including customer success, services, business insights, contract renewals, and technical support. Matthias joined Dynatrace in 2014 with years of international management experience, helping to bring the Dynatrace platform to market and later launching the Dynatrace ONE customer experience service as SVP of Business Operations.

Matthias holds an M.A. in Business from the University of Linz. A dedicated father of four girls, Matthias lives with his family in Austria and has been known to dive with whale sharks in the waters around Thailand.

Nicole Fitzpatrick

Chief Legal Officer and Secretary

Nicole oversees all legal and regulatory matters for Dynatrace’s operations worldwide and is responsible for driving the global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program. She brings over 20 years of broad legal practice, encompassing direct experience with and exposure to all major legal disciplines, including as a partner at Goodwin Procter and, most recently, as Deputy General Counsel and Chief ESG Officer at Akamai Technologies.

Nicole holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B.A. from Boston College. Outside of work, Nicole volunteers with numerous philanthropic organizations, including the Women's Foundation of Boston and The Winsor School. She also enjoys running, traveling with her family, and a great cup of coffee.

Bernd Greifeneder

Chief Technology Officer and Founder

Bernd is responsible for Dynatrace’s global product vision and platform, overseeing technology, delivery, and user experience. An entrepreneur with more than 15 years of engineering leadership experience, Dynatrace is Bernd’s third successful venture. He is a named inventor on 20 Dynatrace patents used in PurePath®️, Smartscape®️, DEM, and other technologies that position Dynatrace on the leading edge of the observability and security domain. Always driven by what’s just over the horizon, Bernd is taking Dynatrace into a brilliant future.

Bernd studied at Johannes Kepler University of Linz. In his spare time, Bernd draws from his experience to advise startup companies, speak at entrepreneurial events, and support academic technology research.

Laura Heisman

Chief Marketing Officer

Laura is responsible for Dynatrace’s global marketing organization. With more than three decades of marketing and communications expertise, she plays a pivotal role in creating, optimizing, and personalizing the end-to-end customer experience. Before joining Dynatrace, she worked for iconic technology brands, including Citrix, Github, and most recently, as SVP and CMO at VMware.

Laura holds a B.A. in Communications from San Diego State University. As an advocate for women in technology, she has served as a mentor as well as an executive sponsor for women's employee resource groups. Outside of work, Laura enjoys trying new recipes and going on adventures with her family.

Colleen Kozak

Chief Transformation Officer

Colleen spearheads transformative business initiatives at Dynatrace, delivering impactful results by translating strategy into actionable operational objectives that meet Dynatraces’ current and future needs. With over 20 years of high-tech operations experience, she excels at building and managing high-performing global teams while guiding organizations through people, process, and technology changes. Before joining Dynatrace, she served as Vice President of Strategy and Operations at Akamai Technologies, where she identified strategic areas and built the operational structure and key processes needed to help the company scale from $1B to nearly $3.5B in revenue. Additionally, she ran sizable teams in product operations, sales operations, and program management.

Colleen earned her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Lafayette College. Outside of work, Colleen enjoys running, hiking, and various other outdoor activities, as well as spending time with her husband, three kids, and dog.

Susan Quackenbush

Chief People Officer

Sue is responsible for driving Dynatrace talent strategies and a workplace culture that fosters innovation, authenticity, and inclusiveness. She has deep experience defining and creating destination workplaces focusing on all facets of the employee experience on a global scale. Prior to Dynatrace, she served as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for cloud communications leader, Vonage. In this role, she led an organizational and cultural transformation establishing Vonage as a highly desirable company to work for and instituting programs and services to support the company’s rapid global expansion. Prior to joining Vonage, Sue was CHRO at Presidio, Inc.

Sue has an MBA from Drexel University and a B.S. in Environmental Economics from Rutgers University. When not working, Sue enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, finding new recipes to try, and exploring the local farmers market.

Steve Tack

Chief Product Officer

Steve is responsible for Dynatrace’s product strategy and its application. With over 20 years of experience delivering innovative solutions, he brings a relentless customer focus to the company’s products and drives scaling efforts alongside Dynatrace’s solution and customer-facing teams. Prior to joining Dynatrace, Steve held management positions in technical sales and engineering.

Steve has a B.A. in Economics from Kalamazoo College. Outside of work, Steve is an active volunteer and enjoys cycling, coaching, and spending time with his wife and two kids.

Dan Zugelder

Chief Revenue Officer

Dan oversees Dynatrace’s go-to-market strategies and revenue generation activities. He brings over 30 years of leadership and expertise in sales, client relationship development, and business management. Prior to joining Dynatrace in 2023, Dan held several leadership positions at VMware, including SVP, Global Accounts, and later, SVP and General Manager, Americas. He has also held leadership positions at Dell EMC and ADP.

Dan studied at Buffalo State University in New York. Outside of work, Dan is an avid sports enthusiast and reader, and he enjoys spending time at the beach with his wife and three adult children.
